Pre-Wedding Wellness Tips For Brides

Here are a few pre-wedding wellness tips I always send to my brides that you can follow to prepare your skin for your wedding day. It’s important to think about what your skin and body needs in the months leading up to your wedding so you can look and feel your best. Try to make some of these a habit by writing them down or printing this out so you maintain consistency with it.

1. Drink as much water as possible. It will help you not only physically but it will keep your skin hydrated and flush out toxins. Even brides with an oily skin type like yours still need lots of hydration. Drinking plenty of water is one of the best things you can do for your body so this is a non-negotiable habit you must start today! I believe that health is wealth and this is key to maintaining proper bodily function and having energy is drinking lots of water. It also helps with bloat and prevents headaches causes by dehydration.

2. Avoid sweets that may cause a breakout. You'll be under enough stress that may cause an unwanted blemish and you want to avoid exasperating any existing breakouts. In “ 5 Foods That Cause Acne and Breakouts - The Dermatology Specialists (thedermspecs.com)” Dr. Bobby Buka states “…unfortunately, it’s true that sugar and foods high on the glycemic index are a major contributor to your acne breakouts. Essentially, foods with high sugar content cause your body’s insulin levels to spike. This extreme overdose of insulin increases the production of oils in the skin, which lead to your follicles and pores clogging up with sebum.” If you want something sweet, try some dark chocolate instead, it’s low in carbs and sugar. Incorporating healthy options like natural green juices will work wonders for your skin too.

3. Make sure to wash your face well before bed each night even if you aren't wearing makeup that day. Strive to do this consistently for at least 2-3 months prior to your wedding day as you won't see any real results from products for a minimum of 8 weeks. It would also be beneficial to see a dermatologist and aesthetician who can tailor a skin routine to target your skin concerns. Remember not to do any kind of peels within 3 weeks of your wedding in case you run into a bad reaction.

4. Take a relaxing bath, light some candles, and have a glass of wine to unwind as often as you can. Wedding planning is a lot of work, especially when you're doing a lot of it yourself. Remember beauty comes from the inside out and you want to feel your best above everything else.

I hope you found these tips helpful as you prepare for your big day. Let me know if you have any questions by commenting below!

xoxo, Christine
